A dress to enjoy

I couldn't wait to post this dress!  It's a relatively new pattern from 'Crabapples' and - let me just say.... fantastic!  Elegant construction, timely tips and super instructions and, best of all, it fits right the first time.   

About the dress - the body of the soft peach floral garment is 100% cotton but the mossy green collar & piping was a remnant that I think has some rayon in it - silky & textureous (my special word for interesting fabric) and I liked it with the dress fabric.  The sash is free floating, so your dolly can wear the bow where she likes it - front, back or side.  Both the sash and the dress itself have velcro closures.  In addition to the dress, I made a matching hair band.  Though you can't see it very well, the dress is filled out with yards of mossy tulle in a half slip with an elastic waist.  I topped off Meggie's lovely dress with delicate ivory shoes that have a little flower and velcro strap.

My Pretty Jumper

Jumpers aren't often considered 'dressy', but this one has a mind of it's own - it wants to be special.  Made of  a poly/cotton grey heavy flannel and brightly embroidered in pink and purple, the jumper's elegant lines and close fit make it a good choice for a recital or church time. You can really dress this piece up or down - so practical.

The bodice of the jumper is lined with polyester sheath lining.  I made a white cotton knit turtle knit with 3/4 sleeves and flannel covered plastic hair band to compliment the jumper. Both the shirt and jumper have full back openings and velcro closures. The skirt is hand hemmed.  Lydia wanted a little bag to carry her phone, so I made a lined envelope bag with shoulder strap and floral applique to match the jumper. 

While sweet little pumps would certainly dress up the look, Lydia really wanted to use the pink & grey saddle shoes and knee socks with pink bows.  I think she had a great idea.

A dress for spring

It's time to freshen up your dolly's wardrobe with a bit of spring color and a new hat.   This lovely lavender check dress with frolicking bunnies echoes the color of the early blooming crocus and hyacinths. Made of a poly-cotton blend, this crisp fabric is perfect for the full hand hemmed skirt.  The unique bodice of this dress is based on a pattern by Pixie Faire. The ribbon sash at the waist has a secured bow covering a velcro closure, so it looks perfect every time.  I lined the bodice and used velcro to close the full back opening.  Carissa's white spring hat is embellished with firmly attached silk flowers and a white ribbon.
